Growing support for compulsory SRE- The Guardian

Mary Braid, writing in the Guardian, looks at school sex and relationships education in the light of growing support for compulsory SRE. In a lengthy piece Braid talks to school nurses, teachers, parents and young people including members of the UK Youth Parliament and the PSHE Association.

Britain has the highest teenage-pregnancy rate in western Europe, but efforts to curb it through earlier sex education are enraging the rightwing press and making parents squirm. Meanwhile, some children still think a crisp packet is a form of contraception. So how can schools get the balance right? Mary Braid investigates
