Healthy Schools news

Healthy Schools is making a difference!

The latest HeadSpace research published in December 2006 shows that of the headteachers that responded:

· 63% say that the Programme is making a contribution to pupils having healthier lifestyles
· 23% say that the Programme is making a contribution to raising pupil achievement
· 21% say that the Programme is making a contribution to reducing health inequalities
· 27% say that the Programme is having a positive impact on social inclusion

Most impressively, 86% of head teachers say they are engaged with the Programme.

NHSP is just ending the round of regional training events for Physical Activity where the Physical Activity Toolkit has been launched. These events have been attended by Local Authority Healthy Schools Coordinators, Programme Development Managers from the PESSCL strategy and School Travel Advisers. The Toolkit will soon be available electronically on the NHSP website : www.healthyschools.gov.uk
