Wellbeing assessments for children
As part of a drive to improve children's emotional wellbeing,
the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence are
developing wellbeing assessments for children. Primary school
children will be asked questions on whether they are feeling
optimistic, confident, loved and interested in others, to assess
their mental health. The questionnaires, jointly
designed by Warwick and Edinburgh universities, will be given to
all children aged four to 11. They aim to monitor positive
attributes such as confidence, resilience, attentiveness and the
ability to form good relationships. More details about the tests
and guidance for schools will be available later this year.
