Summary: From the PSHE Coordinators Toolkit
Description: This comprehensive tool is designed to help schools review their current provision for PSHE education. It is not intended that schools (or individual teachers) attempt to complete this in one go, nor that one person should take sole responsibility for its completion or the subsequent actions.
In piloting some schools have used this tool to carry out a preliminary review to identify the main areas for development then focused attention on these, while somes have asked different task groups within the school to take responsibility for different sections or strands and the subsequent actions.
This tool has been cross-referenced to the Ofsted evaluation framework however it is important to recognise that the Ofsted level descriptors used by inspectors to make their judgements do not necessarily equate to the levels contained within this framework, which reflect a developmental process rather than a ‘judgement’.
It is only intended to be helpful and it is likely that there will be sections that you feel are in the wrong place or that you perhaps disagree with altogether.
Please see also the CEGNET website for further support in reviewing the schools provision for careers education, information advice and guidance. The downloadable material on this site is intended to provide essential support to schools address the implications of the new statutory requirements for CEIAG that came into place at the end of 2009.
