Improving PSHE provision in Kent
Working with Kent Community Health NHS Trust over a number of years, we have provided training for PSHE leads in Kent schools to improve their PSHE education provision, including helping Trust staff to support teachers working towards the PSHE Association Chartered Teacher Award. The Trust recognises the importance of effective PSHE provision in its schools and it is to be commended for prioritising this vital aspect of children and young people’s education.
Our schools had identified assessment in PSHE as an area for further development, and we were pleased to be able to add a series of workshops from Jenny to our training programme.
Jenny was very accommodating with the times and locations of the workshops which was essential in making them accessible for some of our schools.
As a result of attending the workshops, we were pleased to see our PSHE leads build on their experiences and using their learning to support their Healthy Schools work, achieving our local RSE Quality Mark, and even Chartered Teacher Status for PSHE. It has been great to see schools continue to use the same tools and methods developed with Jenny, and using this improved focus on assessment to raise the profile of PSHE within their own staff teams and school communities.
We would strongly recommend using the PSHE Association to enhance the service offered by similar programmes to ourselves, the added value we have seen has made it a very worthwhile experience!
