‘An Introduction to Values and Careers’ by Unboxd
A set of careers education lesson plans for key stages 3 and 4
‘An Introduction to Values and Careers’ is a careers education resource from Unboxd for key stages 3 and 4 that focuses on the importance of considering values when choosing a career path. It is designed to help students to identify and explore career choices based on their values and strengths and help them to create a feasible action plan for following up on these choices.
There are five lesson plans included on the following topics, supported by teacher guidance and additional materials:
- What do I think about my future?
- What are my values?
- How can I show my values?
- What links values to careers?
- What have I learned?
The resources are available for free once you register on the Unboxd website
The PSHE Association’s Subject Specialist Lucy Marcovitch says
This succinct resource for Key stages 3 to 4 helps students begin to identify their personal strengths and values, and link these to exploring and identifying future career choices. Each of the five structured sessions uses a range of interactive and engaging activities based on clear, measurable and progressive learning outcomes.
The resource gives students a valuable opportunity to identify, but also to challenge, their own values and to consider those of others, and use their self-reflection to consider the kinds of careers that may suit them. Due to its clarity and ease of use, Unboxd would make a valuable addition to a school's planned PSHE education programme of learning.
