'Assessing risk' KS3 home learning lesson

'Assessing risk' KS3 home learning lesson

Home learning lesson for KS3 addressing risk assessment and management in a safe way for remote learning.

Risk is part of life — every day we assess which risks are worth taking and which should be avoided. This KS3 lesson plan is designed to provide an understanding of risk and improve young people’s ability to assess and manage risks when they arise.

This lesson will help students to:

  • explain the factors which affect the level of risk in different situations
  • suggest strategies for assessing and managing risk
  • assess different types of risk

While it is difficult to approach sensitive topic areas via remote learning, the risks posed by unhealthy or risky behaviours remain. In these home learning lessons, students have the opportunity to explore the concept of risk in a way that can be transferred to a range of contexts when in-school lessons resume.
