The lesson content includes an exploration of the full range of menstrual products available; the impact of product disposal on the environment; cultural myths, taboos and celebrations around menstruation; and, how menstruation affects different groups of people. There are six lesson plans in total, with two for Key Stage 2 and four for Key Stage 3.

Teaching about menstruation and menstrual wellbeing is included in the statutory Health Education guidance, and a well-planned PSHE education curriculum will provide the ideal context for safe and effective learning about the changing adolescent body, the menstrual cycle and the importance of menstrual wellbeing.

City to Sea requires teachers to complete a free 1.5 hour online training session before accessing these resources and free period product school demo box. Please note that the PSHE Association has not quality assured or endorsed this training and our quality mark only applies to the lesson plans.
