Creating a dementia-friendly generation Alzheimer’s Society resource
Lessons and guidance for key stages 1-4 that focus on issues related to dementia including how it can affect people and the impact on young carers, family members and the wider community.
The ‘Creating a dementia-friendly generation’ resource pack is designed to support and develop pupils’ understanding of dementia. The lessons and activities focus on issues related to dementia, including how it can affect people and the impacts of dementia on young carers, family members and the wider community. Each structured lesson includes a variety of resources and additional supporting materials to enable learners to deepen and extend their understanding, empathy and appreciation of issues related to dementia. The Quality Assurance mark now applies to materials suitable for key stages 1-4.
This resource encourages a whole school approach to the topic and gives ideas for how to raise awareness amongst all members of the school community. The lessons have been designed so that they may be delivered as a suite in the context of your PSHE education provision or as part of an enrichment day. The resource also makes cross-curricular links to support the wider curriculum.
