DO…SRE for schools

DO…SRE for schools

‘DO…SRE for schools’ is a set of free resources designed to support the teaching of sex and relationships education (SRE) in schools at key stage four.

The resource was created by the DO… collaboration – a group of leading experts and charities, including the National Association for Head Teachers, all in partnership with Durex. The resource is divided into two modules:

Module 1: a series of self-reflection exercises, can be used by teachers to explore their own values, attitudes and views on sex and relationships.

Module 2: a comprehensive teaching resource, covers topics such as confidentiality, creating group ground rules, promoting tolerance and respect and different teaching methods and includes six interactive SRE lessons and activities.

PSHE Association Subject Specialist, Karen Summers says:

The ‘DO… SRE for schools’ resource provides comprehensive guidance and advice to help teachers feel prepared and confident to teach sex and relationships education (SRE) as part of a planned PSHE education programme in secondary schools. It also includes six progressive lesson plans for key stage 4 students which ensure that the content is matched to their needs.

This is a highly inclusive resource which will support both teacher and learner in delivering and receiving high quality SRE provision as part of a robust PSHE programme, and will help young people to develop the skills and attributes, such as respect, empathy and honesty, necessary for happy and positive relationships.”
