Inclusion, belonging & addressing extremism — KS1-2
As part of our contribution to the ‘Building a Stronger Britain Together’ initiative, we have produced a series of lessons for KS1-2 which focus on directly addressing extremism and radicalisation through your PSHE education curriculum.
The primary lesson pack enables pupils to develop the protective skills and attributes to keep themselves and others safe and decrease their susceptibility to extremist narratives.
As part of a whole school approach, PSHE education lessons can develop:
- knowledge and understanding of the factors that lead to extremism such as discrimination and intolerance
- skills such as critically evaluating media and social media content
- attributes such as resilience, empathy and respect for others
The pack includes a teacher guidance document and each lesson plan is accompanied by a classroom ready PowerPoint and relevant resources.
We are grateful for the grant awarded by the London Community Foundation which funded our continued work in this area.
