Moving & moving home KS2 lesson plan

Academics at the University of Worcester have created a lesson plan as part of their focus on diversity and inclusion.
This lesson for key stage 2 uses story books and character narratives to explore young people's experiences of moving home and address the topic of immigration in a safe, age-appropriate and effective way. The lesson features a list of suggested storybooks that teachers can use to help pupils develop empathy and respect for others. We have awarded this lesson our Quality Mark for PSHE education resources.
Our subject specialist, Sally Martin commented:
This KS2 lesson plan, from Worcester University showcases how children’s literature can be used instrumentally in PSHE — to enhance teaching on sensitive topics. We are grateful to Professor Richard Woolley and colleagues at the University of Worcester for their wider work to raise the status of diversity and inclusion as an important PSHE topic and their efforts in writing the resource and collating the accompanying book list.
