Please note: the information on this page refers to the 2019 RSHE statutory guidance. Updated statutory RSHE guidance was published in July 2025. Schools have until September 2026 to adapt their curriculum to reflect this new RSHE guidance, and in the meantime can continue to use this 2019 version until they are in a position to reflect all updates. We will support you to make these changes through CPD, guidance and lesson plans.

PSHE education should be a partnership between parents and schools.

It’s also key to have governors on board with what you’re doing. Our handy guides will help you to communicate with parents and governors about the subject’s content, and value.

Engage with parents about Relationships Education/RSE

Use our guides to communicate with parents about statutory Relationships Education (KS1-2) and Relationships and Sex Education (KS3-4). We include practical advice — including a template letter and parent workshop plan — on how to explain the statutory requirements and right of withdrawal from sex education.
