Thames Valley Police 'Drug Education' lesson pack, year 9

Thames Valley Police 'Drug Education' lesson pack, year 9

Facilitation guidance, lessons & resources

TVP Drug education Y9 pack front cover

There are three lessons in total, helping year 9 students to:

  • explore attitudes to drugs
  • raise their awareness of drug-related risks, particularly potential legal consequences
  • build strategies to manage pressure relating to drug use

The lesson plans and resources are accompanied by PowerPoint presentations and dedicated facilitation guidance featuring essential advice on creating a safe learning environment and signposting support.

Please note: the delivery model for these lessons assumes the involvement of a police officer trained in PSHE education safe practice. If you are unable to secure a police visit, we recommend using the year 9 lessons from our standard drug and alcohol education suite as an alternative.

These materials are based on the work originally completed in collaboration with the National Police Chiefs Council. We are grateful for their support in adapting the materials, and for Sussex Police's permission to use the related visuals. We also thank The Loop for sharing their expertise on harm reduction.
