Funded by the Department for Education and the Government Equalities Office, the overall purpose of the work of the Alliance is to reduce the incidence of HBT bullying in primary and secondary schools in England by supporting schools to prevent and respond to HBT bullying. The Alliance aims to support schools to: prevent HBT bullying from happening in the first place, effectively respond to HBT bullying when it does occur, and create an inclusive school environment for LGBT pupils and families.
"'The facilitator was excellent. Not too rigidly set to their own agenda and able to facilitate an open discussion around difficult issues that would have been difficult to manage without them.''
"I have had quite a bit of feedback from staff who attended – all of it very positive. They found the training excellent and trainers positive, encouraging and inspiring."
"Really pleased we participated in the sessions and accessed the resources and materials. We feel much more confident as a staff now. Thank you!"
"The trainer was passionate about the training and very informative. She was open and honest which made us all feel very comfortable about sharing experiences."
"I felt that the training opened up useful discussion for the school. It presented LGBT issues in a creative, engaging and thought provoking way."
As part of their work on this project, LGBT Consortium partners are producing factsheets and resources around policies and procedures for schools. The factsheets are available below; policies and procedures work will also be available over the coming months.
